James Lingwood is Co-Director of Artangel with Michael Morris, since 1991, and Artangel Media, set up in 2000. Lingwood has commissioned and produced a range of projects for Artangel from Rachel Whiteread's House to Tony Oursler's The Influence Machine, and film and television projects such as Matthew Barney's Cremaster 4, Douglas Gordon's Feature Film and Richard Billingham's Fishtank. Curated exhibitions include, retrospectives of Thomas Schutte, Vija Celmins and Julia Sarmento's work and in 2004 a survey of Susan Hiller's work for BALTIC in Gateshead.
